Postdoc-initiated recycling program hits 500 bottles

In October 2018, Erin Soule launched a laboratory bottle recycling initiative in MCT. Working with the MCT Operations staff, RCSI Health & Safety, and the RCSI Green Initiative, she was able to start a program to recycle many of the plastic bottles generated in the day-to-day work of the MCT researchers. Before the recycling program existed, these bottles were being incinerated with other laboratory waste. Now approved bottles are being disinfected, washed, have their labels removed, and recycled along with standard recyclables generated by the college. In just six months since the start of the program, MCT has recycled just over 500 bottles instead of burning them. Congratulations Erin on getting this program off the ground and running!
